RECENT PROJECTS at QUIMEX

Shell Gamba, Gabon

Quimex has successfully implemented a full controls & ignition system retrofit on 5 x GMVH-10 compressor sets for Shell Gamba in Gabon. This project consists of five (5) turnkey installations destined to replace the current outdated and ineffective pneumatic control system with state-of-the art electronic ignition systems, governors, controls systems and associated panels, all based on pre-programmed Altronic modules. The long term objective is to significantly extend the life of the compressor sets by more accurate and safer engine and compressor controls.

Three of five (5) panels have now been installed successfully, on time and without complications. We expect panels 4 and 5 to be installed in the next year.

Total Fina Elf, Gabon

Energy Dynamics Limited (Endyn, Ltd.) of Alice, Texas has finalized a joint venture with Quimex, Ltd. of Geneva, Switzerland, Altronic Controls Inc. of Dallas, Texas and Altronic of Girard, Ohio to provide Digital Control Systems to Total-Fina-Elf.

The joint venture of these three companies will be responsible for the design, engineering, installation, commissioning, training and trouble shooting of Digital Control Systems (DCS) for Total-Fina-Elf's three Cooper-Bessemer GMVA-12s, large-bore natural gas engines and compressors, located off the coast of Gabon.

Thyna Petroleum Services (TPS), Tunisia

"Quimex has supplied 3 Waukesha VHP7100G gensets to Thyna Petroleum Services (TPS) for the development of the Chergui Gas Field on Kerkennah Island in Tunisia. The gensets will be used for continuous power generation.

The project demonstrates Quimex's knowledge of the Tunisian market and experience in building bespoke solutions for its clients. The project also demonstrates Waukesha's reputation for building robust engines for operation in extreme conditions."

In 2005, Quimex has supplied three (3) VGF18GL gensets and one (1) VGF24GL genset to Thyna Petroleum Services, for further power generation for on shore and off shore sites.

GTI, Nigeria

Quimex started this program in Africa by successfully installing a Series IV GTI Bi-Fuel system at Michelin Port Harcourt site in December 2003, jointly with sister company Excel Energy. This was the first GTI system installation in Nigeria and has triggered the installation and commissioning of several dozens of Bi-fuel kit installations with industrial customers in West Africa.  In most countries, the price differential between gas and diesel is such that the payback period is a matter of months (presently 5 months in Nigeria). The GTI system is expected to operate at 60-70% natural gas consumption (replacing diesel) and in so doing, generating substantial and continual savings to industrial users which have access to gas.

Late news: GTI confirmed its satisfaction with the support and sales generated by Quimex in Africa by appointing Quimex as Exclusive Master Distributor for GTI  in Kazaakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Belarus. In many of these countries, the same economics apply due to a increasing access to gas and high diesel prices.
